new_england_beachYou’ll never truly know America until you’ve visited the center of its origins. The North East states are where it all began: where the Pilgrims first landed, the seeds of government formed, and many of the battles for independence were fought. This is a region steeped in history and tradition that will win your heart and fuel your imagination. Whether you enjoy admiring the beauty of the great outdoors, getting in touch with history and culture, or great shopping and entertainment, New England is a must see travel destination.

The North East states have a universal charm and many characteristics that are found throughout the region, but each destination offers its own unique character and personality. Choosing where to visit first can be difficult, but fortunately everything is close in the North East and new and exciting destinations are not far away.

Boston, Massachusetts, is a great starting point for anyone new to the region. It offers a great variety of what people expect and love in New England. The fall foliage is a particular favorite as well as the traditional fresh seafood. Many other popular points of interest are within driving distance such as popular ski resorts in the winter, historic landmarks, and plenty of ocean views. Cape Cod Tourism is always bustling throughout the summer and into early fall as the weather at that time is ideal for enjoying the area’s picturesque beaches.

To the South, Connecticut and Rhode Island are full of history and more beautiful beaches. Connecticut is the home of the world renowned Mystic Aquarium and Rhode Island’s coast boasts breathtaking Gilded Age mansions. To the North, the mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire provide terrific venues for skiing and other winter sports. Maine is known for the lighthouses and vistas that dot its rugged rocky coastline. These states are also well known for their great sea food and their famous fresh maple syrup.

Head inland for more excitement in the great state of New York. This state has its fair share of spectacular scenery and historical sites, but its main attraction, of course, is The Big Apple. Every year New York City welcomes billions of visitors from around the globe. Many people are drawn to the city for its high fashion shopping or for its iconic entertainment such as is found at the Broadway Theatre or Carnegie Hall. With so much to see and do you might find that a bus or walking tour is the most efficient way to experience the city.

Pennsylvania and New Jersey are other great places to visit in the North East. Philadelphia is steeped in American history as it is where the Declaration of Independence was written and signed. Visitors flock to see the Liberty Bell and to visit Independence Hall. Many who visit Pennsylvania are also excited to take a trip through Amish country. Take the short trip east to New Jersey for more sandy beaches filled with exciting adventures. New Jersey is also the home of Six Flags Great Adventure where you can experience thrilling rides and see wild animals up close.
